"Lost" downloaded files

Once upon a time a history of web page addresses accessed in the past were
easy to find ( as far as I can remember they were listed in a temporary
internet folder or similar). They are still there (ie in the computer)
because they can be listed by IE but I cannot find the folder ( or file) in
which they are now stored. Where are they ? ( I have Windows XP ).

The same applies to temporary audio or graphic files which are generated
during the downloading of various music or movie clips etc. When these are
downloaded from a web page ( in some cases) the audio and/or visuals stop
and start spasmodically the first time indicating the data stream is not
arriving fast enough to allow a smooth display. If such a download is then
immediately replayed all is OK and a smooth presentation occurs. This at
least to me indicates that on 2nd showing the display utilises a temporary
file which was generated on the initial download. These temporary files used
to be stored in a "Temporary Internet file" folder. Alas this also seems to
has disappeared. Can anyone also advise where they have gone to ?? Tnks

Documents and Settings, "User Name e.g. John Wild", Local Settings,
History.
The same applies to temporary audio or graphic files which are

My Documents, My Music and My Documents, My Pictures.

you should use your
search feature to find
files or folders on your
disks by using a word
or letters that you know
to be part of the file name.

in regards to saving downloaded
files that are temporarily stored,
they are most likely protected
with improved technology and
the times of harvesting the
temp folder for copy protected
material is becoming history.

in regards to the location of
the internet temp folder, you
should be able to open control
panel and click on internet
options.

in there you will find the option
to resize and or move the temp
folder.

my suggestion is to use the above
tool to relocate the folder from
its current location which will
be notated and into the c:\temp
folder on the root directory.

the main temp folder above
is easier to access and maintain.

also, it might be helpful to ensure
you have the option to view hidden
files or folders.

if you open my computer and
click on the menu item called
tools, there will be a setting
that may be preventing you
from viewing hidden system files
and folders.
