Hi;
I have lost my D for CD's and DVD's. It was there before and I went to look for it today and it has just dissappeared!

Can anyone help me and tell me as simply as possible how to get it back? I read previous posts but am not very good with computers and did not understand about device manager and other instructions.

Please help me;

lol :D

Well I'm sure its still there

Right well first thing I would do is check the connections on the drive and motherboard are securely pressed in and aren't loose.

Its likely that a connection worked loose at some point, especially if its a SATA connection. More than likely you have a PATA connection, follow potguys suggestion. :D

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH POTGUY & ALF!!!

Alright! I know I was "hilarious"!!! After reading it I did sound kind of funny I must admit!!! (BUT IT DID DISAPPEAR)!! But! that wasn't what was wrong with it, my 2 favorite smarty pants!!!!

The wires were connected ok, although if it ever happens again I will check that 1st, (hopefully I will remember)!!

But while I don't know what was wrong with it I did get it back. I found this site and there was a program to restore CD/DVD drives to Explorer and lo and behold it worked, very quick and easy.

So I really do thank you both very much for helping me as I am a real disaster when it comes to computers, and I hope if I ever have anymore problems, which I know I will, that you will help me again!

I would have to guess that your computer drive was in compatability mode which usually indicates a resource conflict.The conflict was no doubt resolved by the program that you had obtained.
