Lost connectivity on startup after installing video conversion app

I have had no problems with my networking untill I installed a Pinnacle Linx
system on my computer. It has since then not had a regular connection on
startup, even though I have uninstalled the drivers and product. It shows the
NIC installed and functioning, but when I try a browser I am offline, and
when I look at the status of the NIC (on-board Gigabit 10/100/1000 Realtek
latest update drivers) it has no ip information at all, and it cannot be
repaired or configured using ipconfig.
When uninstalling and reinstalling the device, it will work, so it must be
something in the boot sequence that gives it problems, maybe still a driver
being loaded, even though it has been purged from the registry.

As per your description, it seems that Pinnacle "may" have replaced a
common file that it and the NIC drivers require. Have you tried to
remove/reinstall the NIC drovers?

I have replaced the drivers, uninstalled the drivers, downloaded the latest
and reinstalled them... and the fact that when you uninstall the device and
reinstall the device and it works, tells me that it is not the specific
drivers, but more likely something in the startup that affects it....
however, I just noticed as well, that the workgroup is not available.
Sadly enough, going through and looking and starting up some of the
associated services did not help....
Thanks for the answer, it would have been nice if that would have worked.

It could be that the NIC adapter and your USB ports "may" be sharing
the same hardware resources (aka IRQ.) Unless the drivers are
developed especially for XP, IRQ sharing can cause problems. Have you
checked with Pinnacle support for possible solutions?

They are being less than helpful, they have not responded at all, don't seem
to be interested in users using their systems, only when they can sell new
items and software. I will look into IRQ and other parameters.

You "might" want to check their forums on their web site.

Also, I have not seen the Linx as an "active" product. This might be
why Pinnacle is not too helpful (they may have stopped supporting it?)
