lost common task view in the left pane

Hi folks,

I've problems with folder options.

The first thing was I screwed up the file type and started search whenever
clicking on a folder. Then I ran "regsvr32 /i shell32" to fix the problem.

Then I got the second problem. Whenever I click on any folders, i.e. My
Documents, My Computer,... any subfolders in them, I get the folers view on
the left only. I found a command "Explorer.exe /n" in a Mcploppy's post here
and tried that, but it didn't work for me.

Please help me out!

Hi,

Control Panel/Folder Options/General tab, you need to reenable common tasks.

I tried it. from setting - control panel- appearance and themes- folder
options, and "show common tasks in folders" under the General tab is already
selected.

I clicked "OK" and closed the window. Then I opened the folder again, then
still had the folder list view instead to the common task view on the left.

I'm using XP.

Hi,

Now click view/Explorer bar/Folders (it should be checked, clicking on it
will uncheck it.

I unchecked the "Folders", then the common task view got back. But when I
re-open any folders, I still get the folder list view, and have to re-uncheck
the "Folders". So the problem is still there. Do I need to run certain
commands to get the common task veiw back?

Thanks!

Hi,

Set the one folder to the way you want it with the common tasks, then click
tools/folder options/view tab, and "apply to all folders".

i tried, but it didn't work. although the message "set all the folders on
your computer to match the current folder's view settings (except for
toolbars and folder tasks)? Changes will occur the next time you open them."
popped up and i clicked "yes", i still don't have the common task view in the
left pane when i reopen any folders.
