Lost Application Data

I'm suddenly losing all my toolbars in windows explorer and I'm also losing
all my desktop shortcuts.

This happens repeatedly. I've run two different virus scans, as well as
AdAware and Spybot.

All files in my 'C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data'
directory just seem to vanish into thin air!.'

I'm only able to restore the desktop and toolbars by using the system
restore utility or by using my backup.

The system is otherwise working well. Also, other users do not have their
Application Data deleted.

Any ideas?

do a backup of all files and folders and then...

make sure you have at least 10% of the disk free. my computer/ c: drive/
right click/properties & do the calculation... is ree space equal to 10% of
the drive?

start/run/cmd (return)
chkdsk /r c: (return)
reboot
go have a coffee - it'll take a while
when you come back, do the above steps again minus the backup.

you may lose something, but the disappearing should stop.
