I came in this morning and all my links had disappeared from my Favorites
Folder for IE6. I then readded the links (copy and paste from a backup) and
the subfolders showed up, but there were no links! I went to a website and
clicked to add that website to my Favorites, and that worked, sorta'. The
link showed up in my Favorites folder, but would not work when clicked. An
error message would pop-up that said: "The target "" of this Internet
Shortcut is not valid. Go to the Internet Shortcut property sheet and make
sure the target is correct". When I went there, it appeared that everything
was correct. Anyone have any ideas?? Please??

Rob, no, nothing was recently installed. This exact same thing has happened
to 3 other computers on the network. At first I thought it was a user error
by accidently deleting the contents of the folder, or somebody being
malicious by purposely deleting the contents of the folder, but that doesn't
explain why I can't re-add links back into the favorites folder. I haven't
yet been able to find anything similar like this happening to anyone else.

You are probably saving your favorites on a network drive and the drive was
not availible, IE resets the registry to point to C:\windows\favorites or
blanks out the registry entry alltogether. The registry entry will be
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders]

Brad, We are not using network drives for profiles. All that information is
kept on the local machine. Users don't move around enough to take up server
HDD space with profiles.
