Lost all data when I removed Microsoft Exchange Server

Hello. I fear I just deleted all my messages, all my
contacts--everything!

Last week I transferred my messages and address book from
Outlook Express to Outlook. This had the effect of
slowing down e-mail transmission considerably. Our
office manager took a look and saw that the Microsoft
Exchange Server was chosen as the default e-mail
account. He switched the default to my pop account.
This solved some problem, but e-mail transmission was
still slow.

A colleague who had done the same thing also
deleted "Microsoft Exchange Server" completely, and that
speeded up her e-mail transmission. I just did this as
well, and under "Deliver new e-mail to the following
location," I followed the instruction to create a "New
Outlook Data File" called "personalfile.pst"

Now, everything is gone--I have no e-mail addresses in my
address book, no messages in my in-box or other folders,
and all the custom folders I set up are gone. I tried to
import the data from the personal file (using the
import/export wizard), but it appears that the only thing
in that file are basic, empty folders (Calendar,
Contacts, Deleted Items, Drafts, etc.)

Does anyone know if I really did lose all that data?
Please help!

Thank you!!!

Vicki

Do you use an Exchange server at work? What version of Outlook and Exchange
are you using?

We're on a network and use POP e-mail accounts. After I
switched to Outlook (I believe it's 2002--I'll check when
I get to work this morning), our office manager added the
POP account and made it the default. The Microsoft
Exchanger Server was still in the list, but I wasn't
using it. Does this answer your question?

Thank you!

Hi, Milly.

I'm using Outlook 2002. We use a POP/SMTP server.

Thanks for any advice you can give me!
