lost administrator account

while trying to repair an unrelated matter, my "administrator" account has
somehow disappeared. While it does show up in my Local Users & Groups, it
can not be accessed. I can set up a new administrator acct, but all of the
files & programs under the old adm. account are gone.....do you have any
suggestions on how to restore?? My guest account does not seem to have been
effected at all.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

In what ways have you tried 'accessing' said account?

- Can you not go into C:\Documents and Settings\ and go into the
administrator profile direcory?
- If you use the "Welcome Screen" logon - can you not reboot, get to the
welcome screen, press CTRL+ALT+DEL twice in a row and logon as the
"administrator user?
- Have you booted into safe mode and chosen to log on as administrator
there?
- Have you used TweakUI to choose which users (including the administrator)
are shown on the Welcome screen version of the windows xp logon?
