I was trying to use the repair function on my XP Pro Disk to repair my OS,
but It asked me for my password and I entered the right password ( I'm
pretty sure , It was quite a while ago ) but it says incorrect password.
How can I Find or replace my password so that I can repair my OS.
Thank you for your help and Time,
Rob

Hi Robert,

You're probably trying to enter the Recovery Console. Means you are not
repairing XP. Follow the guide here:
How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade (Reinstallation) of Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315341

Visual aid to the above procedure
http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/repair_xp.htm
Click on How To Run a Repair Install

Hint: Do not press "R" at the first screen. If so, the system will enter the
Recovery Console.

As for the password issue in Rec.Console, there is an issue with OEM bundled
systems (sysprep'd) and you may need to upgrade to XP SP1 to fix this
problem)

Hello Ramesh,
Thank you for your help in this matter. If I do this I shouldn't have to
reload all my drivers and programs right? Also I had a bunch of fragmented
files on my hard drive and I did a defrag but there are still some
fragmented files. any suggestions other than write zeros to the hard drive?
If I must wipe the HD any Ideas how I can save my email in outlook express?
I have my HD as Fat 32 because I seen to many problems with ntsf. Such as
Administrator problems like refusing to except that we are the Admin and
etc..
Andrew wrote " Try using back-up utility in xp.
Why format the disk in FAT32,boot from xp cd,recovery,
at the curser type:FORMAT C: /FS:ntfs
If asked for password press the enter key." and I don't think I can do that
if I want to keep it as a Fat32 or can I?

Thank you for your Time and Help,
Robert

Repair install does not delete the user data, so don't worry about that. In
most cases, reloading the drivers is also not required.

As for OE Backups, use the tool called OEBackup:
