lost address bar

Hello
I am trying to help an elderly man who uses Internet Explorer 6.029. The
address toolbar has disappeared. When I select to show the address toolbar a
little block appears on the standard toolbar with the word "address" inside
it but nothing happens when I click on it. He allows the automatic updates
from MS but does not know when exactly this happened. I am not very computer
savy either so I probably won't try complicated fixes that may cause other
problems. Thanks.
 
Hi,
Right-click an empty portion of the toolbar. Make sure that "Lock the
toolbars" is not checked. Double-click the word Address. The Address Bar
should expand. Arrange the toolbar to your liking. Lock the toolbars.

If you see the smallest piece of the Address Bar (usually the name)
then stretch the Address bar back to a normal size and move it if
necessary. If the Button Bar or some other bar is to the right of it,
you may want to move that to a different position first.

Don't forget to ensure "Lock the Toolbars" is unchecked in
View-Toolbars.
