Lost access to other computers on a LAN

I just posted my problem about not being able to see other computers on a
LAN from a windows XP machine when all the windows 98 ones can see each
other. (see a couple of entries below this one) but I now see that lots of
others have very similar problems all reported in last 24 hours, and most
say all was working until today.

There was an XP critical update issued yesterday - has microsoft c**ked up?
I don't want to waste time trying to solve this if there was an error in the
update so can somebody from microsoft look at all the posts (at least 20 of
them in 24 hours) from people who have had problems seeing computers on a
LAN and lets us know what is going on.
 
Thanks for the fix. BUT now my XP system sees the 98
system again & the printers but the 98 no longer sees the
XP system. I read the different articles but did not see
a fix. Can you help?
