Hello.

I have an XP Pro, SP2, IE6. When i go to Microsoft update or any site where
i want to download, it just displays a blank page. No error. It just gives
an empty page. It also happens when i go to these forums. I had to use a
different computer to post this question.

It all started when i tried to delete some registry entries. My computer
did not run right afterwards, so i restored the system state from a backup
for the same day. My computer got back to normal, except that my internet
abilities are limited. I also noticed that i can't use Outlook Express. I
gives an error: 502 Access Denied.

How do i get back to internet browsing so that i can do updates and
downloads and newsgroups?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks,
Tony

Sounds like you shot yourself in the foot there, my friend.

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware with

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.

Hello Robear.

Thanks for your in depth reply. There is a lot of good info there in case i
ever need it.

I reinstalled IE6 with the help of Microsoft and the problem went away.

Thanks again. Your replies and the replies of others in these forums is
very much appreciated.

Tony
