I use Word 2002, under Vista Home Premium, 32 bit.

Try as I may, I cannot find one of my documents that I made recently
(past day or so). Can anyone suggest where it migt be - or how to find
it, a copy would do. I thought that I had saved it into a directory,
but it is not there.

Thanks

Do a search.

Windows specialises in hiding things where you can't find them again.

Does it?

What you are really saying in this context is...
Because I don't know how to configure an app to Save in a particular place
of MY choice, it's Windows fault.

Or
Because I'm sloppy/inatentive when I bring up a Save dialogue, I have no
idea where "I" have authorised Windows to put my file.

sURE, it's a Window's problem, not the user's. Takes one to know one I
guess.

What's it? Where is "Not there"? Not where?

What program/verson?
What OS and verson?
bug free? Virus free? malware free?
Have you looked in Recent Files?
Have you looked in the Program's list of used documents for it?
Have you searched for fragments of the filename?
Do you have any concept at all of the due diligence you need to do before
posting a question and then how to help people to help you?
And the rest of the things you COULD do instead of asking a question that
has no informtion with it.

I am not sure what happened, I believe that I saved the file. If for
some reason the file was not saved, is there a record somewhere?

I did, no luck

Recent fles, or the programs own recent files list under Files. It's all a
guess if you're too lazy to try the given suggextions and report back on
them.
