I recently installed both Office 2003 Professional and
Visual Studio 6.0 on my computer, which is running Windows
2000 PE.

For some reason, the thumbnail viewer feature of Windows
Explorer no longer works (except for .JPEG and .BMP files).
I tried renaming .JPG files to .JPEG and the viewer worked
for them..

I have all Windows 2000 PE updates from Microsoft
installed. I also downloaded and installed Office 2003
updates, and the Visual Studio 6.0 has installed its
Service Pack 3.

What is causing this problem and how do I fix it?

Thanks kindly in advance,

Hello Larry,

Usually this is caused by a few registry values getting changed. Try the
workaround section in the following article:

Office XP
