Loss of sound

I have experienced a loss of sound on my laptop. I believe
that I may have picked up the problem when I was using my
pc on the internet. How do I check and restore my sound?

Rightclick sound icon (bottom righthand corner of screen)

click Open Volume Control > Options > properties and see
if Playback is checked. If it is, then start from the
beginning again and check Adjust Audio Properties > Voice
tab / Test hardware, if your "mike" works, the speakers
work. Are your speakers internal or external? Are they
plugged in correct. Check them on someone elses PC to
see if they still work. Do some troubleshooting.
