i appear to have lost the sound in a few of my programmes, such as msn messenger and yahoo. and a few others. the audio set ups work fine but they dont seem to work once they're running. im pretty sure its just a simple click of a button thats needed but, for the life of me, i cant find the correct one.............please help
HP Computer Problem with some audio functions. XP sys AC97 Sound chip
Sound works OK on several other programs, and I can record with programs other then "Recorder".
But I have lost (I think after XP upgrade) several sound functions as follows.
I have reinstalled the drive with HP support, it did not help.
1.Sound will not work with some programs:
a. American Heritage Dictionary word pronouncing will not work.
b. Lost sound in MS Spider Card game and others. (worked before XP upgrade)
c. No sound on web sites with audio wave files.
4. Can not select "MS GS wavetable" in audio properties for midi

But I can select locally it in a midi program options?
5. MS Recorder will not work any more, buttons are grayed out.
Can the problem be a lock out in the registry or anti virus?
