Losing WebPage Content

I've been having a recurring problem for quite some time now. I lose random
graphic content (images, text, parts of web pages) whem my computer has been
on for a while. I have a cable modem presently connected to a router, then
my computer. I do have 2 other computers that were networked into the
router also, but I also had memory leaks with them PLUS the random graphic
content loss to the original computer; so I have those 2 computers connected
to a hub then to the other computer (that is connected to the router...i.e.,
that computer has 2 nic's). The only way I isolate this problem is if I
take the router out of the loop (and go modem to nic)...but then I lose
whatever firewall protection the router may offer (Dlink I604)...I do not
want to use a software firewall.

So when I lose my web browsing capabilities, I have to reboot the computer
to get it back. I thought it may be a problem with the router. so I tried
another brand, but still had the same problems. The internet computer has
256mb, the other two have 512mb, 1gig memory; using win2000sp4 on internet
computer.

I originally contacted Dlink; they had me change a whole lot of settings in
IE6 (security, etc, etc.) ..but it didn't help...they don't even answer
emails I have sent them...may not be their problem..
Anyways, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds like a DNS problem?
Try using nslookup the next time it happens.
I have a similar intermittent symptom on XP but I'm on dial-up.
When it happens nslookup can't even find the DNS servers
(which explains the other symptoms); so then I just hangup
the link and reconnect.

Does your router have any diagnostics in it?
Perhaps you would see whether such attempts by nslookup
to find the DNS servers were real failures. If so, you would
have placed the ball into the server's court (no pun intended <g>)
and would have good evidence for getting your ISP to do some
serious investigation for you.

So when I lose my web browsing capabilities,

Assuming the DNS connection is lost, what else is lost?
Can you reach known addresses then? E.g. using tools
such as ping, tracert, or telnet? It might even be feasible
to try to use OE if you had the IP address for its servers
but unless it was the most trivial bit of HTML you couldn't
expect to have a web page render in IE under those conditions.

I have to reboot the computer to get it back.

That's the only way you have found to restart communications?
Have you tried using ipconfig commands instead?
Stopping and starting relevant services? Etc.
