losing servers (dc's) from DNS

We have AD integ DNS, scavenging is only set up on the primary DNS server and
is set for 7 days.

We have been upgrading firmware on all DC's although this only takes approx
20 minutes, a few (10 out of 60) are then disappearing from DNS

We can't find any errors or record of their removal but when adding them
back in manually there is the following replication error in the logs

Event id 1226 NTDS Replication
DC=X662SW2DC01,DC=nic.prl.local,CN=MicrosoftDNS,CN=System,DC=vic,DC=prl,DC=local
(with objectGuid 427d763e-5d58-4b9f-b2b4-6d0d32c21eef) was created on a
remote server. However, this name is already in use here by the object with
objectGuid 9b4d04d5-6878-4574-9f6f-9911310c9d89.

The object with objectGuid 9b4d04d5-6878-4574-9f6f-9911310c9d89 will be
renamed to X662SW2DC01
CNF:9b4d04d5-6878-4574-9f6f-9911310c9d89, since the other object claimed the
name first.

Any help would be appreciated!

They look to be conflict errors. Can you describe your DNS cofiguration in
terms of which DNS servers your DCs are using, such as itsefl first, and a
partner, if using your ISP's DNS addresses, if all the DCs are in one domain
or in multiple domains, if using delegations, replication and domain
communications are trying to get thru firewalls that are in place, etc.

Or.... it could be a simple hotfix!
