losing permission to server

Really strange problem. Client will be accessing their
small business 2000 server, then without warning the files
are no longer accessable. Can browse all other pc's but
server gives a "permission denied" message. If the client
tries to access their personal folder which is a shortcut
that resides on the server, a username and password screen
appears. Once they enter correct name and password they
are back in business. A reboot also fixes them. Happens
almost daily. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How many nics in the server? What OS on the clients? Does the ipconfig/all
from the clients show that everything is pointing to your server-IP?
Check www.smallbizserver.net out.

It's actually using token ring. They hope to switch to
CAT5 in a few months. OS is windows me and 98. IP config
looks right.

Is WINS installed on the SBS? W9x, ME and NT4 need it.
Got options 003, 006, 015, 044 and 046 (0x8) set in DHCP-server?

Hi Marina,

thanks for your help!

Where exactly do you check for those options for dhcp
server.

Hi Cory,

In DHCP-Manager, drill down where you see options.
