All was well with my system for months, then all of a sudden, I boot it up
and I get message that it looking for drivers for new hardware (Ethernet
Controller), then I reboot and it says my AGP Controller has a problem. In
ssytem devices, the Ethernet Controller has a question mark, the AGP
Controller has an exclamation point. So I remove both and reboot. The
system gets hung on the screen where Windows XP is loading (the three balls
sliding across the screen). Suddenly they stop sliding. When I reboot and
go to the safe mode, it gets into windows.

Any thoughts on what's wrong. What should I do?

Nate, if you havent added any devices or updated any drivers then I
would start to backup all your important files and
keep an eye on your Device Manager. Did you go back and see if those
exclamation marks were still there? Your
Motherboard maybe starting to get flaky.

Yeah. I was thinking about the motherboard. It is a bit older (700MHz,
that should tell you something.) Actually when I got in via the safe mode,
I removed the AMD 751 and 756 controllers and it booted all the way and XP
reinstalled drivers. No exclamation points showed up, but when I rebooted,
it froze again. I am trying to figure out what is loading when it crashes.
Isn't there a way to see what is loading instead of the XP screen.

Thanks for the thoughts, but I am guessing it may be new motherboard time.
I'm not overly concerned about the info on the machine. I just bought a new
computer about a month ago and everything is on the new one anyway. They
are networked in my house so if I have to do a new motherboard.
