Losing contacts in Outlook 2000

I've just been asked a question regarding Contacts in Outlook 2000 that I've
tried to resolve, but can't, hence this posting.

Friend has Outlook 2000 installed on a server. When he goes "offline",
whilst he can see emails, tasks & calendar, the contacts "disappear"; when he
reconnects, they reappear.

At the moment, the contacts are in a subfolder of the Public folder.

I have suggested that he moves the contacts out of the subfolder, but this
doesn't seem to make any difference.

Any suggestions?

If the contacts are in a Public Folder and Public Folders are hosted on the
server, doesn't it seem reasonable that, when working offline and not
connected to the server, that those contacts aren't available?
 
Hi Brian,
.... but I thought that the whole point was that if you linked into the
server from, say, a laptop, then you could still have access to all folders
(including contacts) offline... as is the case here with everything EXCEPT
the Contacts. If he couldn't see any, then I'd agree with you, however, it's
just the contacts that are "missing"
