Wally

I have a wireless home network setup. I have configured
it using ICS. Using XP on both pcs. With everything in
working order I have saved as a restore point. By using
the restore, MOST OF THE TIME the connections are there,
however on some occasions I will shortly thereafter loose
internet connection, with the LAN still working. Any
advice would be greatly appreciated.

My guess would be that the PC's are possibly too far from
the access point, or that there is something in the
walls, etc. that would intermittently cause the
connections to bounce. I have experienced this, and one
resolution is to buy a small repeater style box
to "repeat" the signal to a larger area of your home.

Good luck,
Beaker

2.4GHz Wireless connections depend on other equipment around (microwaves,
cordless phones, neighbor's wireless equipment, etc.) Change the channel
that your wireless router works on.

Also, make sure you uninstall hotfix 826942 unless your card and router
are both upgradeable to firmware that supports WPA instead of WEP.

Please followup to the newsgroup.

Hello there, Wally
I have TWO solutions for you that might prove helpful

One, you might try buying the Linksys WSB24 (Wireless Signal Booster). I've had the same problem that you described, due to the numerous walls in my house. The WSB24 is easy to setup out of the box in 5 minutes with instant results. You won't get double the signal on your computer, but it will be significantly increased enough to prevent signal dropouts. (Price: $99 at local BestBuy or CircuitCity, etc.
DETAILS: This particular product only works with the Linksys Wireless Router

Two, You can try finding a Wireless repeater. This will probably be your best bet, but they are harder to find. They stand alone at any point between the computers. They pick up the slighty weaker signal and boost it to full power, then launch it off again. Basically, something to throw the signal further. (They run anywhere between $80 and $200, but still the best bet.) MAKE SURE not to buy the one from D-Link. This one has special speed enhancements that are not compatible with traditional wireless networks

Wally, I hope that this will be hopeful to you! Let me know how it goes

Scott
