Loosing Computer Connections

Jonathan

All,

I did a crazy thing, but need your help to fix it. I have
an old server with AD running. I installed a new server
with AD running the same AD settings and name as the old
AD. There were not running at the same time until I had
to transfer data. However, the data transfer ran well.

When I started other administrative duties, I then had
problems with the new server and its relation to other
computers. It sees the other computers, but it will not
allow the other computers to map a drive to the new
server's shared folder.

It almost seems that the changes to the computer's
connections, etc. is lagging about an hour or so. How do
I speed this up or fix the situation without having to
demote the AD and then promoting it again after it can see
all of the computers?

Jonathan.

Did you use the same DNS?
Are you pointing only to your internal DNS server (not the ISP's)? You need
to remove your ISP's DNS from DCs and clients or it will just compound the
problem. Just use your own.

Also, since you installed it new, and probably as a new domain in a brand
new forest, my suggestion is to disjoing the current machines and re-join
them. My statement about DNS above still applies.
