I have Norton AntiVirus installed on my PC. However,
occasionally, when the machine starts, NA is automatically
disabled, cannot be started and when I
click "Start", "Connect to" - the machine hangs.

When I view 'Network Connections' the dial-up icons have
disappeared.

I have used system restore on a number of occasions to
correct this but the problem reoccurs. Does anyone know if
this can be eradicated?

Thanks in advance

I would suggest you visit the Symantech site to see if
they have a fix for this...their knowledge base is vast
and their instructions are specific.

Off hand, it sounds like you have a problem in your Start
Up. Go to Start/Run/type in MSCONFIG/then give a look-
see at your Start Up items to see if you can identify the
problem. If not, you'll have to disable an item then
restart to see if the problem is corrected until you nail
the culprit.
