First of all I have to thank all the regulars for all the good advice they
give. I have solved a lot of problems by reading the posts and taking your
advice.
Now my latest problem. A friends computer (running ME ) got a virus (or
something ) and after they got finished playing with it they lost the hard
drive. Not wanting to play with it I installed one I had, formatted it
installed ME everything went well. On restarting it loaded and when it was
done it restarted, and so on. any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks Bill

If you think a problem is virus related, use an antivirus scanner. You
have both Safe mode (I presume) and pure DOS via a system boot disk to
use.

In this case. the problem might be due to any one of a number of
things. Incompatible or bad driver. Bad RAM. Motherboard malfunction.
Maybe even flaky CMOS because of a weak battery.
