Hi,
I am trying to create a Lookup formula (or similar) that will allow me
to calculate the following
I have a spreadsheet with the following data
1. A directory of address data for a large geographical area
2. A sub directory of data that is a part of that geographical area (eg
State / County)
3. The data is orgainsed as follows
- Sheet A contains all of the data. Column S contains a list of areas
that may / may not be included in another list that is contained in
Sheet B
What I would like to do is to look up all of the records in column S
and compare those records to see if they fall within the areas listed
in Sheet B and then to add up the number of areas that are a match and
produce a total. All I need is the total number of areas in Column S
that are a match with the areas in Sheet B.
I know how to do this by inserting a column next to Column S and doing
a Vlookup for each row, but I have a feeling that this can be done in a
single formula (without inserting rows), but I do not know how to do
it, so any help would be great
Many thanks
