I cannot download any files in IE6. Unlike most of the other users here
who get an error message of some sort when the download fails or hangs,
my computer appears to be downloading the file. I then quickly see a
shortcut appear on my desktop for the file that just got downloaded,
and then within a half second, the shortcut disappears. When i search
for the file in my computer, it can't be found.em.
When I try to just run a file instead of saving it to my system, it
appears to complete the run file process, but then nothing happens,
nothing runs, nothing installs. It's as if I never pressed the button.
I have already tried clearing my temporary internet files, caches,
history. I found a MS support note that talked about changing the
index.dat file, but I cannot locate that file anywhere in my system.
I also cannot view any PDF files in IE. If the PDF is saved to my
system, no problem viewing. And since I can't download anything, I
can't update Acrobat Viewer to see if that rectifies the problem.
Help!!!
