I am looking for a freeware program like Nero or Rixio so that I can take
my pictures to be printed at a retail store. I am not sure how to
explain but there is a VCD format but the picture stays in jpg the cd is
formatted in a way for the stores machine can read it and print it out.
The machine will not take a cd that is burnt with jpg as a data disk.

I have tried search engines but not getting the results I am looking for.

I hope this is clear ---- thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Unless you can pin down the format a bit more accurately, I can just
chuck you a link and hope:

If it's Kodak Photo CD you're talking about, then that's a proprietary
format, and there may well not be anything available unless Kodak do some
freebie software.

It does sound like a Kodak Photo CD most likely. I have a Kodak
digital camera and it comes with software from Kodak. There is debate
over whether or not the BackWeb client support included with the
software is spyware or not. I removed the modules regardless. A person
can download the software from the Kodak site, but you have to give
away too much personal information when you register.

Because of these two concerns, I'm not going to mention the software's
name in this group.

Sony CD Extreme

is more similar to Nero. Also, I had some problems with Cd burner XP so i
recommend Cd Extreme instead.

Thanks for the suggestion, Fran. It's an excellent site with good instructions.
I'm d/loading all the files now.

CD burning can be complicated, at least to me.

I want to save .jpgs to a CD as chapters or tracks, so that my new Sony NS325
DVD player will be fooled, and show photos (it's not designed to do this, I
guess that's obvious). There are so many procedures, I get lost, can't do it.

I use Win98SE.

I downloaded CD extreme, its update and update of prassi engine390,
as reccomended at site above.

Running original CD extreme, before and after its update seemed to work.

But after installing Prassi engine update 390, running CD Extreme
cases Runtime error 9, index out of bounds, and then popup window
CD extreme caused an error at unknown modul.

Do you recommend not to upgrade P. engine, or find newer ?
