I currently have Inclose bays and those little fans are often as loud as the
rest of my system* mainly, from what I can tell, because they're not
operating perfectly (i.e. they're crappy lilttle fans) and, besides, they're
small and small fans tend to turn fast and so make noise. I used some
compressed air & WD 40 on the fans and that helped but only to a point. So,
I'm in the market for some quiter bays but I really don't want to
buy/try/return, etc.

*I have fan controllers and a quiet power supply and CPU HSF, so I would
guess that the rest of my system is 25db and the drive bay is about the
same.

Thanks

WD is not a lubricant. Use some 3 in 1 electrical oil (or regular )
or any other good quality CLP (clean, lubricate, and protect).

Unplug the fan. I did that on my Lian-Li drive bay and everythng was
fine. Those small fans don't do much coooling anyway. Or you can fork
out the dough and get alumium caddies. The aluminium passively cools
the HD.
