Trying to find any freeware that will enable an internet session over
DSL under DOS only.

The only thing I've been able to find is a shareware PEPA 1.9 from a
German author.

Thanks for any info.

This is not for "pure" DOS but I'll mention it anyway:

http://www.raspppoe.com/

I tried this out because my Win ME PC was quite unhappy with my ISP's
supplied DSL software package. It works fine for me and what's unusual
is that it uses DUN (of all things). I find that when I create a Safe
mode command prompt only mode on my PC by changing the
shell=explorer.exe to shell=command.com in the system.ini file that it
also works fine. So depending on your purposes, this might be an
alternative for you. For example, users can have the option in this
way of going on line with DSL service when their system is crippled
with many kinds of malware. If that's your concern, then consider this
approach.

I've also wondered about pure DOS DSL software but haven't spent any
time searching.

Interesting. I just did a small amount of Google searching and don't
see anything else out there for DOS - in fact, even rasppoe didn't
come up - only the one mentioned in the OP.

Of course, if you do a search on Google using the terms "DOS" and
"DSL", you get a ton of hits on "Denial Of Service" involving DSL,
which muddies the waters considerably. That, or you get advice on
using the ping command under DOS or whatever.

Try "MS DOS"?

if you're not using windows maybe linux would be good instead of DOS

Actually, responding to the OP, he might be better off trying to find
an alternate DSL client if his ISP's DSL software doesn't work under
ME (which I find hard to understand, but I suppose it's possible.)

When I got SBC Yahoo DSL, I tried to install the Yahoo crap even
though I really didn't want it. Bombed Windows 98 and I had to
restore the Registry to recover the system. So I asked SBC tech
support if I could just use whatever DSL client they were using, and
he said that by contract he couldn't walk me through it, but he could
tell me how to do that. So I ended up just installing the Enternet
300 client (which works a lot like DUN - you set up a profile, and run
it when you want to connect) and avoiding all the Yahoo crap.

So if the OP's ISP stuff doesn't work, maybe he can use a different
client - that still runs under ME - to connect to them rather than
trying to find a DOS client.
