Looking for Photo Program similar to MDI 2006

Hi:
I've been using Microsoft Digital Image 2006 for more than two and a half
years now. However, recently I noticed MDI 2006 does not seem like before.
It's sluggish and takes longer to 'edit' and other tasks.

I believe XP/SP3 doing this, ... as knowing that when on XP/SP1 or 2, MDI
was very quick and smooth to run. I love SO much MDI 2006, but it's time to
switch other photo-shop for XP/SP3.

What other alternative, ... similar to MDI 2006 is available for XP/SP3?

Personally...I'm still using DIS2006 on my XP SP3
machine because IMHO nothing compares to it.

However...if you want to try something new that
