Looking for Magic Basket

Help me out here, folks. Now, understand .. I already have this jewel,
but I was trying to find it somewhere else in the 3W for everybody else
to download.

What is it? Magic Basket ver 1.1 was once freeware. Absolute freeware.
A special issuance of ver 1.1 that has escaped me finding it any longer.
Today, Magic Basket exists as a shareware, and does the same thing, but
costs a fee. The version I have gave permission to distribute freely.

Magic Basket provide an added-in drop-down option in the Explorer.exe
to open a SECOND window ... to facilitate opening two locations on your
screen. Many other freeware programs do this .. TurboNavigator, 2XPlorer,
the free versions of PowerDesk, etc. But, so many things do not work in
these other filemanagers. Magic Basket also added-on a tool option in your
MSIE browser so that you can browse your files while online, dragging stuff
to save into an opened folder perhaps.

I am happy to provide this freeware program to somebody who can provide
small server space where a.c.f regulars can get to it. 780K

I'd be willing to have a look at it and if it works as described, is truely
free and distributable, I would be glad to archive it. For a file that
small,(I assume a zip file) you can just email it to webmaster to either
domain in my sig. :)

Done ... sent to webmaster at freeware4u dot com. Uh oh, I think I
may have not zipped it up. About 1 Meg unzipped.

NP. Got it! Thanks. I'll install and check it out. Will list it later
today/tonight if I can and if it's "sponge worthy" that is. ;)

I'll post back either way. Thanks again. I'm always looking for "little
jewels" to archive.

Thanks Chief Suspect! Working well here so far, so I've uploaded it for
others. At least one issue I've found with XP and MS Money though...
If you have MS Money installed, a process named urlmap.exe is ran each
time you launch IE and/or Explorer or Money. This process conflicts with
Magic Basket causing explorer to crash. This only effects users that have
MS Money installed (and XP?) as far as I know.

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=316905 explains what it is/does. You
most likely do not want it running anyway!

You can disable "urlmap.exe" by opening explorer, select from top menu
View>Explorer Bar>Money Side....Select Help from the Money Side menu and
choose "Never" for the Open MoneySide option....then select "Enter". This
prevents MoneySide from running and Magic Basket works perfectly after
that as far as I can tell.

Desc.
Magic Basket is an useful and comfortable assistant for Windows Explorer
and Internet Explorer. It allows you to run only one instance of Windows
explorer and see files in different folders at the same time .

Thanks again CS :)

Hi Steve,

Moochers lists the old "free" version as adware...any indication
of that?

Humm, no indications of that, unless they are talking about....after
install and at the first use, one of the "tabbbed" windows is an ad of
sorts I suppose. It just has an email address for the author and a url to a
non-existant site and lists out the features of the app.. When you close
and re-start, that tabbed window does not appear again. It was only
available the first use. Maybe it will re-appear after so many uses??
Dunno.

SpyBot and Ad-aware come up clean. No open ports or new processes running.
If it's found out to contain ad/spyware I would be greatly disappointed as
I like the tool a lot. Best I can tell...no ad or spyware.
