I purchased SpyHunter. It didn't get rid of UltimateDefender.
As a matter of fact, even though it indicated that it had deleted all
the spyware that had been detected, it was unable to remove one file, so
it popped up when I ran SpyHunter again. I was able to determine the
file was 'in use'.
I took that file out of use, via msconfig, and deleted it myself.
Certainly doesn't speak well of SpyHunter.
Anyhow, I've deleted all UltimateDefender entries from the registry.
Didn't find any sign on the remainder of the machine. Didn't seem to
make a bit of difference. It reoccurs just as it did before the deletions.
In a thread re: Ultimate Cle@ner, N1K said. "did you check your
registry for malware applications in startup folder?" I'm familiar with
both the registry and the startup folderm but I'm not aware of a connection.
I'm reluctant to return to GOOGLE because there is so much info that
sounds like it is correct, but isn't.
TIA
