Looking for good wireless AP

I have a PPPoA connection and already tried on AP that didn't work with
it. Is this normal; is PPPoA a rare thing that most APs would not be
compatible with?

I would not say rare, but it is a problem.
 
Are those more likely to work with PPPoA?

There are not many APs or routers that work with PPPoA. Try Netgear. It
is possible to set up PPPoE routers to work with PPPoA, but that is a whole
other thing. Log on to broadbandreports.com for really expert information.
This really is not the best forum.
