I'm looking for DOS apps for a dedicated "scientific" computer for
home lab use, as I have a recently obtained low-capability (200 MHz)
with low ram) PC that works. This is for use in the basement
electronics lab lab. I already have a purchased an oscilloscope
interface with DOS/Windows software , and I am looking for other
spectrographic apps, Cool Edit-type freeware signal measurement apps,
and mathematical programs. I already have George Murphy's free
HamCalc program, which is a very good electronics calculation program.

Does anyone have personal knowledge or by reputation good DOS/Win 3
sites?

This site is quite good:
http://www.opus.co.tt/dave/index.htm

Tons of useful info and some good programs here, as well:

I suggest, for questions/suggestions you browse/ask in the
following Usenet groups:
Win3 <DOS <
Also see:
Free Software For DOS:<http://short.stop.home.att.net/index.htm>
and: <http://home.att.net/~short.stop/vde.htm#moredos>

Interesting DOS programs:<http://www.opus.co.tt/dave/>.

"DOS Utilities and Comments" (not so current):
<http://www.oregonfast.net/steen/msdos.htm>

"Doctor DOS Betamax"
<http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/~ak621/DOS/DOS-Head.html>
with DOS and batch tips, and many links on
<http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/~ak621/DOS/Websites.html>

For more DOS links,see Timo Salmi's link coelection!:
http://www.uwasa.fi/~ts/http/http2.html#batch

Also have a look at "The Oldskool PC" <http://www.oldskool.org/>
with among other things some helpful guides, like
"Getting Old Software Running on Newer PCs"
<http://www.oldskool.org/guides/oldonnew/intro>

If you have a IBMPS/2 or a regular 2/3/486 (or
a old Pentium) you want to breath some life into,
this site could be worth browsing <http://www.computercraft.com/>
(also some software links there I think...if memory serves)

All the best,

I notice they are mirroring Rich Green's old site. That's great to
see.

Yes, and particularly when it seems Rich's site have been
taken down now, at least the URL
<http://members.cox.net/dos/softlib1.htm>
does not respond anymore (404).

btw I added a notice about the new site here in acf
<back on March 02, where I wrote:

under updates and news 2002-03-10:
"These html pages are now being distributed under the CDL (Common
Documentation License). "
See above page for full text.

Result: Another version of the site have surfaced, with all of the
original contents, plus new layout (colors) and some additions
and updates: Here, via this page:
<http://short.stop.home.att.net/index.htm>

Just found this site - I can not say how much is
added compared to the original. Also check the other pages on that
site, like the VDE page - with additional DOS stuff
(http://home.att.net/~short.stop/vde.htm#moredos) and links etc.
