Looking for freeware, streaming music recorder

I'm looking for a program that will allow you to
enter a URL and begin recording streaming radio
stations.

Have done a google search, and tried many. Most of
them will only allow Shoutcast to be streamed. I'm
looking for something that will allow ANY URL to be
entered whether the format is RA, MP3, PLS, ASX, ect.

I've tried using the programs that grab whatever the
sound card is processing, but the output quality seems
to be somewhat questionable as compared to what my player
produces (using XMPlayer).

I realize that asking for freeware to do something that
is questionably illegal (copywrite stuff), but I'd really
like to start archiving my favorite show again.
