Chaos Master

Hello people!

Do you know of any free OCR (optical character recognition) program?
My scanner came with one, but it's not very good and is 'liteware'.

thanks.

I've had very mixed results with SimpleOCR even on relatively simple stuff. It
failed to recognize almost anything on a page with tables. Downloaded Abbyy
(abbyy.com) and was amazed at the accuracy of the results. Unfortunately it's
quite expensive. Fortunately, I only needed it for a few documents and was able
to convert the docs during the short, but fully functional trial...

OK, thanks for the suggestions.

Ive tried simple ocr (freeware) for a project ,but unfortunatly it wasnt in
the same league as abbyy finereader.I ended up getting a previous version of
abbyy(5) off ebay for less than the price of a magazine. If the project you
want it for is important then it may be worth biting the bullet ,and getting
a bargain off ebay.
