Hi all,

I am looking for a fast flatbed scanner for reflective media (slide
adapter not needed). Currently I have a Canon D1250U2. The scanning
itself is reasonably fast, but the scanner adjusts its lamp before each
scan for several seconds, which significantly slows down the whole
process.

Can you recommend a scanner that costs less than about $250, has a
resolution of 1200 or 2400 dpi and works fast without delays like I
described above?

Thank you

Shy do you need such a resolution?

If you think you could get away with an optical res of 600, go with a
used HP 4C, 3C, or 6100C for about $10 on Ebay. I've got three of
them because I can't find anything faster and of better quality.
Nothing. And I've searched for five years.

I'm still working on figuring out how to replace the scanning lamp for
$5 in case mine goes south (HP will ask for $250). I think it can be
done relatively easily, but no conclusions as of yet.

Forgot about scan speeds:

Letter size text b/w: 300 dpi 4 scans in 64 seconds

Check the archives for other scanning times I recorded several months
ago.

May I inquier on your computer? You should detail what you have.
This is important to know. You can have a great scanner but attached
to an older computer it can make the scanner act slow.

As for scanners I like Epson. Solid name. Good scanners in a range
of options. I've had HP also but I don't know what the new ones are
like. My last one was a 7450. Now I have an Espon 3200.
