Looking for email client where you can choose what to download

I'm looking for a stand-alone fully-featured multiple account email client that allows you to
see what messages are on the server and download only the ones you select, but still leave
others on the server to download later. It looks like Pimmy has an option not to download
messages over a certain size, but I'm not sure if that applies just to automatic downloading in
the background. I use Mailwasher, so I can still remove the spam with that.

I actually want to open up my client, see what emails are on the server, select the ones to be
downloaded, and leave the other ones on the server for another time. Using Mozilla's "leave
email on server" option is not practical as it would still mean downloading the large messages
that I want to leave until later.

Alternatively, a program that sits between my Mozilla & the server, but I would prefer not to go
via that option as I have had a bad experience with Frontgate already (stuffed up my settings,
stopped filters & sorting into folders from working, messed up my registry & then wouldn't
recognise my email accounts at all!!!). However, if there is something like Frontgate that will
actually work with Windows '98SE & Mozilla Mail, I would still like to hear about it.

I really need something as I'm on dial-up & sometimes I want to leave large emails until
another, more convenient time.

Many TIA.

The e-mail client I use has this feature, but since it's a paid-for
program it's inappropriate to mention it by name in this group.

In case you wish to see its home page, I've hidden the program name vy

Pimmy does it.

Try Pegasus Mail
http://www.pmail.com/

It has its idiosyncracies, and it is buggier than Mozilla, but it will
do what you want.

Oh, how politically correct. Scared of getting flamed by Corliss ?

Try Pegasus V3.12....I find it more reliable, if less flashy.

It has an option that allows you to download email headers from the
server, mark them for either deletion, download or both, or simply
leave them where they are.

Further options in the mail client prevent downloaded mail left on the
server from being downloaded again.

Nope, just can't be bothered to spark a cat fight -- it's a reasonable
strategy for standing aside from the whole folderol.

Many thanks to all who replied - I didn't expect so many so quickly. I've gone with Pegasus -
it's much less complicated than the others (I didn't like Pimmy's interface - Pegasus is much
more like Mozilla's).

It was a little fiddly to set up initially until I realised I had to set up a separate identity
for each of my 3 emails to do selective downloading, but since they all end up in the same
folders it certainly is not a problem.

I would definitely recommend Pegasus to anybody else who is looking for a multi-account email
client with selective downloading.

Use a web interface, that way you don't have to download any.

Oh well, too bad it's not Opera. It seems okay to mention that, except of
course, I got flamed a couple of times for mentioning that.

It surprises me that Opera appears to be on topic here. The ads in the
adware build are wholly intrusive.
