Looking for client/service to send PC audio to another networked PC

I want to make the sound from the audio player on one PC come out on
another PC on the network.

Does anybody know of a utility that will emulate a virtual sound card
and send the audio to a service running on a remote networked PC?

I know of a plug-in for WinAmp that does this:
"Cool remote sound server for Winamp"

....but sadly it produces choppy sound on my PC's
 
Playing it clean would be best accomplished by "playing" it on the PC
the soundcard is attached to.
