Hi all,

I am looking for an application that provides following features:
-allow me to tag any documents (and other files) on my hard drive as
being related to each other
-runs in the background and stores these relationships in its database
-allow me to also annotate the relationships with keywords
-provides a means to search the database (using the keywords)
afterwards

The benefit of this would be that I could have one sort of directory
structure on my hard drive while not having to remember all the
different locations where to look for specific information.

Is there any handy (=not overly cumbersome) application that provides
this type of functionality?

thanks,

JJ

If your file system is NTFS you can store that type of information in
the file metadata then use file indexing to query/search the index
catalog. Right click on a file and look at the Properties for the
information that can be tagged on to the metadata. Search your Windows
Help files for information on the Indexing Service. Mind you, I don't
like using the indexing service because it has or can have a big overhead.
