Hi,

I have an old PC with freesco inside.
I use it for my DSL connection and my LAN.
It makes also Samba and http server.

The issue is that connections are lost after some hours surfing and p2ping

Do you know an alternative choice , either on floppy or HD install?
(my conf:pentium 100/32Mo RAM/3Go HD/Realtek 8139 and 3c509 B Nics).

Emmanuel ....

I don't have any personal experience with this,
but you might check out the Linux LiveCD Router ....

Smoothwall is my favourite (after running Freesco for several years).

http://www.smoothwall.org/

I have to second smoothwall.

I have it running on a computer with slighlty higher spec's,
however it sits in the corner and the only time I have to
look at it is when I try to remember just what that box does :)

Cheers,
Marko.

Two options were posted to this newsgroup today. Devil-Linux, in spite
of its name is very good. I use it for a single subnet dhcp server at
work. fwfloppy has been used by our IT staff for over a year now.

Me three. I switched from two consecutive linksys routers as my gateways,
but dropped connections were driving my mad. I now have Smoothwall2.0
running on my old old P120 computer.
