TightVNC is a free remote control package derived from the popular VNC
software. With TightVNC, you can see the desktop of a remote machine
and control it with your local mouse and keyboard, just like you would
do it sitting in the front of that computer. TightVNC is:
* free, GPL-licensed, with full source code available;
* useful in remote administration, remote customer support,
education, and for many other purposes;
* cross-platform, available for Windows and Unix, compatible with
other VNC software;
* well maintained and being actively developed.

also may want to check out:

but i am looking for one that can be run on a client / server network
(or point to point); i thought one was posted here on acf a while back
that was a two part program (client/server); one part of the program
ran on the clients computer (basically created a doorway) while the
other part ran on the server side (key to the doorway). you could use
the server side to send messages and or launch websites or even
applications. this program used tcp/ip (ip address) for the client /
server to talk. It did not install (IIRC).
does anyone know which program i may be talking about? it was
freeware.
