Hi All,
Can anyone recommend a decent online shop for buying a serious gaming PC ? :o
I've spent the last few months looking for a one which I can configurate to my specs, however the only 2 companies that I had much joy with were 'Mesh Computers' and 'Microland Technology'.
As I'd read a few bad reviews about Mesh, I went for Microland, but alas, 3 weeks down the line and it's one problem after another with the machine, so needless to say would never use them again!

I doubt you can get more serious than an Alienware computer, they'll specificly built and tuned for gaming. But they come at a very high price, you can easily spend in excess of £2000 there.

I recommend you build you own though. You can get exacly what you want, and at a price you want to pay. When you buy pre-built computers, you may be paying for bundled software your never going to use, or you alreayd have and your paying for them building it.

Gaming System (base unit) for under £600:
AMD Athlon XP 3200 Processor (400fsb) = £100inc VAT
Thermaltake Volcano CPU Cooler = £16inc VAT
Asus A7N8X-X nForce 2 Motherboard = £42inc VAT
1 Gig Corsair Value Memory, PC3200, 2X512 = £125inc VAT
Ati Radeon 9800Pro Graphics card = £141inc VAT
Western Digital Caviar 160Gig HD = £60inc VAT
Arianet MIDI tower with 420w PSU = £25inc VAT
Sony CDRW = £18inc VAT
Sony DVD Drive = £20inc VAT

It's a shame that LOW stopped selling the 9800pro, maybe i will send an email in their direction asking why.

Maybe the best bet is to go Athlon64/High end S478 for gaming, the 3200, although a good chip, is ageing.

I would definatly trade that HDD for a Samsung SATA spinpoint (maybe 2 80's for RAID) with a Mobo that supports it.

Would probably also pay the extra 4 quid and get the nice GeIL memory, it looks good and has heat spreaders.

You forgot the floppy drive there Reef

For computer i recommend either Alienware or Falcon Northwest. Both build good computers at a very high price.
