Hi, i recently saw a review for the Epson Perfection 4180.
I am looking for a machine to scan photos as well as text documments.

Can someone recommend a good solid machine? I do not want to spend too
much yet do not want something that is totally unreliable.
(maybe 150s range? would be fine)

Thank you

KOS

Stay away from anything with the Canon name on it.

Canon LiDE 80. Decent, and in your range if that's USD.
It comes with Xerox's/Scansoft's OCR stuff, but I pulled
that off immediately because it loads/runs way too much
stuff at machine start up, but I suppose that's useful
stuff if you need OCR available at the drop of a hat. It's
very thin, light, no "lamp" per se, and looks pretty cool.
Gets its power from the USB cable. This is not "advice";
it's what I use. I like it. I don't keep it hooked up
all the time. It's on a shelf right now.
