Hi everyone - I am a newcomer to the world of discussion groups, and I'm
hoping to find some answers. I recently started to receive a small dialog
box with the message 'Lookin at iexplore'. It appears after reboots exactly
114 times, then it stops. It doesn't appear to do any damage or affect
performance, but it is annoying! I installed Norton Internet Security 2006
and ran full system scans, to no avail. Then I found the Microsoft
Antispyware beta product, which I also installed. To my surprise, it found a
lot of spyware that was apparently missed by NIS2006, but it still didn't
solve the problem. Does anyone know how to remove this message?

Hello Aslan,
Enable Hidden Files and folder's and search for iexplore.exe,

To enable hidden files and folders Go to Start then search > goto tools on
the top bar> then click Folder Options-> then goto the View tab .Make sure
that 'Show hidden files and folders' is enabled. 'Display the contents of
system folders' is checked & 'Hide extentions for known file types ' is not
checked then press ªpply.

You can set this back later by opening the same page and pressing 'restore
defaults' then pressing ªpply,

Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When searching you click
on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced
options' at the bottom. Make sure that "Search system folders", "Search
hidden files and folders", and "Search subfolders" are checked.

Search for iexplore.exe

They should only be in these locatiºns

C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$\iexplore.exe
C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\iexplore.exe
C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch\iexplore.exe

If you find it anywhere else especially in system32 then its possibly a worm
(Rbot,Sdbºt)

If found anywhere else then upload it at jotti's site and let us know the
results :

Press Browse and find the file then press "Submit"

Good luck

Hey Engel,

I saw your replies seven minutes apart. Your second reply sounds like you
had second thoughts about the instructions you shared in the first reply.
Can you clarify? Either way, I appreciate the quick and thorough response!

This is googlable, but the only english language ref I found for it involved
an O.P. who reformatted and a single useless response.

Notwithstanding the above, I think what you need to do is download
HijackThis, and post the log file in a forum devoted to such analysis.

I'd love to hear what the outcome is.
