Long wait when logon without network connection

Hi,

When I log in with my laptop using winxp professional and have an
ethernet connection it logs on in no time, n o wait nothing, after
entering password it instantly gives me the desktop.

However when I log in without ethernet cable plugged in it hangs on the
'loading your personal settings' page. It hangs for bout 90 - 120 secs
and then it goes on, showing the desktop and doing its thing.

I do have several network drive mapped. Get IP from DHCP and need to
manually connect to domain if I want to access network drives.

I was wondering how I can lower this time-out or just disable it.

thnx

Instead of relying on remembered connections, use a batch file.
Start off by pinging the router. If you get a reply, make your
connections. If you don't get a reply, exit.

You might reduce the delay further by using a fixed IP address.
