Long Wait Opening Browser

I recently started experiencing a ~30 second wait whenever opening a new
window in IE v6. This behavior followed the removal of a toolbar program
that was supposed to allow me to use animated smiley faces in my emails, as
well as do web page searches. After removing this toolbar from Add & Remove
Programs, my IE takes forever to load and to open a new window! I have tried
changing my home page, unistalling then restarting then reinstalling IE, all
to no improvement of this behavior. Does anyone have any ideas what could be
causing this and how I could fix it? Thank you!

Thank you for your reply. I've had Spybot running on my system for a while
now. After reading your email I went to the web site called Dealing With
Unwanted Spyware and Parasites, which I found very helpful. I then
downloaded, installed and ran Adaware. It found 59 objects that included
malware from Comet Curser and CoolWebSearch. None of these were caught by
Spybot. After cleaning these up with Adaware, I then rebooted my computer
and found that my browser is back!

Thank you very much!

How long since you updated SpyBot S & D? It should be updated before every
use.

I updated yesterday before I ran it. Before that it was 3 or 4 weeks since I
last updated. Doing this each time before running it sounds like a good idea
though.
