Hi,

I have a problem with laptops working remotely at home.
In the windows2000 domain at the office alot of GPO´s and
startup scripts is running when booting up the computer.
When the user connect the laptop at home in the
homenetwork the startup time is about 10-20 minutes. In
the eventlog userinit erorrs is reported, the starup
script \\?????\??????.vbs can not be run. It feels like
XP times out every script...and it takes alot of time.

Solution please ?

Regards

Magnus

If this is over a reasonably slow link, then this is normal behavior..
When you log on, you gain new GPO objects, get new software installed,
run logon scripts, and loading your roaming profile (if you use
roaming profiles). This takes a long time...

Most logon scripts will detect whether or not you are connected via a
RAS connection and will either run an abbreviated script or none at
all.

No no ... when i connect my laptop to my homenetwork there
is no connection to the office network. My laptop has
contact with my home network and it feels like it´s
searching for the domain controller and also tries to find
the startup scripts. I just want to start my pc in another
network wihout waiting for 10-20 minutes.

If you aren't on a domain, there are no startup scripts or domain
controller searches.... :)

That is my problem, the computer is searching for
domaincontroller and startupscripts for about 10-20
minutes. I can see it in the eventlog ?

Please post the event log settings - perhaps your computer was a
domain member once and now it has been removed.. Check the computer
properties (right click on My Computer) and see if your machine is in
a domain or workgroup.. If it is a domain, you will probably want to
set it to a workgroups and then your machine will no longer search for
a DC...

Jeffrey,

The computer(laptop) is a memember of a 2000-domain and
the user both use it at the office and at home. The
problem appears at home when connecting to the home
network, first the DC is not found and that is ok with
me, but after that the computer tries to run every
startup script, i dont understand why it tries to do
that ?
