Long Delay Opening Files

When I open an Excel file by double-clicking the file, Excel appears to hang
before actually opening the file. But if I have Excel already open and I
click on the file, it comes right up. What causes this and what can be done
to correct this?

There can be various reasons to this...

If you are using addins which are loaded before Excel actually starts or You
have broken network connections, the file size it self, slow network speed,
if Excel was orginally run from a network location, file association
parameters etc.

all these problems need to be handled differently.

Dears,

I also encountered the same problem, since i upgraded my excel2007 from
excel2003, i'm sure this is not come from the network or file size problem,
because even i open the file locally, it also delay, actually, it's not
delay..............it seems suspended, after i click any button in the menu
bar, the file will appear immediately, i really dunno what's wrong going on,
please help, Many thanks!

Same here. Files don't open unless you switch between windows or click on a
button on the toolbar. The problem started when I upgraded to 2007.

I'm also seeing this issue with one user. The document appears to load, but
is not displayed. Changing the window size or usign certain menu options
appear to cause the document to display.

I have all the current office patches and hotfixes applied, to no avail.
